James Blunt (born February 22, 1974 in Tidworth, Wiltshire, England James Hillier Blount) is an English singer-songwriter whose debut album Back to Bedlam and single releases – especially the number-one hit “You’re Beautiful – brought him to 2005 fame.
His music style is classified as pop-rock, mostly with folk, often associated with jazz, but also partly as overly critical or even catchy kitsch pop labeled. Along with vocals, Blunt plays the instruments, guitar, piano, organ, marimba and mellotron. He is with Linda Perry US-American record label Custard Records, and was 2006 with You’re Beautiful, after nearly ten years, the first British artist who was able to land a number-one hit in the U.S. Billboard charts. The last is the previously achieved, this was in 1997 with Elton John Candle in the Wind.
James Blunt visited the Elstree School, Woolhampton, then Harrow School. There, he received a scholarship sponsored by the British Army for the Bristol University before his training was finally completed at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Blunt‘s father was the British Army Air Corps, and his family has a long military history. During his youth, James Blunt spent six weeks in the Westphalian town of Soest.
Blunt was an officer in the Guards, a unit of the Household Cavalry of the British Army. He was promoted to captain, served with his regiment as part of KFOR in Kosovo and also recorded (eg as pallbearers) at the funeral of Queen Mother on 9th April 2002 participated. During his service in Kosovo, he wrote the song No Bravery.
A year after leaving the Army Blunt signed with EMI Music Publishing as a singer and songwriter. Schnell, the former 4 Non Blondes singer Linda Perry, the songs on P! Nk, Courtney Love and Christina Aguilera had written and produced, attention to him. Perry took him with her new label, Custard Records, and Blunt recorded his album in Los Angeles with producer Tom Rothrock in his home studio, at Embassy studios.
Blunt‘s debut single in the UK was high. This song did not make it into the top 100 of the UK singles chart. Nevertheless, the song for a Vodafone commercial in Italy was selected and was the top-10 hit. His second single Wisemen debuted at number 44 of the UK charts and led to the Back to Bedlam, it succeeded in the top 20 of the album charts. In the following Blunt appeared on Elton John’s tour in 2004 as a support act. Blunt‘s third single You’re Beautiful “earned him a breakthrough. The music videos of all blunt singles are heavily influenced by symbolism and dark imagery. In the first video for high Blunt will be buried in a desert. In 19 countries, his album Back to Bedlam, was represented in the Top 10, which at # 1 in eleven countries and in five countries on position 2 James Blunt is the first British singer for nine years, which could land a number-one hit in the United States. His hit was high for promotional song for the German Telekom, Blunt was so often heard in the 2006 World Cup on television.
In August 2007 the first time was in 1973 in the radio. This song, in which Blunt sings on the opening year of his favorite clubs, the Pacha nightclub in Ibiza, was on 24 August 2007 released a new single.
