Kevin Michael Costner (born January 18, 1955 in Lynwood, California) is an American actor, film producer, director and musician with Irish, German and Cherokee Indian roots. His biggest success in 1990 with the celebrated Costner epic Western Dances With Wolves.

Life

Kevin Costner Irish-mother, Sharon Rae Tedrick, was a social worker and his German-born father, William Costner, who worked for an electronics company. Costner was a member of the church choir during his school days and by the way wrote poems. Costner was regarded as outsiders and dreamers. Sport was always one of his major hobbies. As a teenager he played basketball, baseball and American football, later he worked as a golfer. In 1973 he took on five evenings a week acting classes.
